LEMON DREAMS
The abstract, surreal, still life paint- ings (the signature of which is quickly becoming that cute lemon that insou- ciantly states it isn’t what it seems) and conceptual installations of artist Priya Drews are featured this month at Touch of Comfort Massage and Fine Art Gallery, open during First Friday from 6-9PM at 120 North San Francisco Street.
HOOFS A’GALLOP
Hidden Light is not just a frame shop and professional printing estab- lishment. It is also a gallery, not only of adjacent printmaker Tom Alexan- der’s landscape photography, but of rotating artists, currently C. Tanner Jensen. Her colorful, fractured horse paintings, whose bright yet soothing palette provides the sensation of be- ing in a nursery room, are the perfect compliment to the orange walls & modernly renovated artspace.
Stop by to browse the artist’s work and this cool historic building, and ask über friendly co-owner Stephen Saunders for a tour of darkrooms & highly customized print making proj- ects. While not open this ArtWalk, visit during regular business hours 9AM- 5PM Monday-Friday, 427 South San Francisco Street. hiddenlightllc.com or ctannerjensen.com for more info.
OF FIRE & FABRIC
Cathi Borthwick of Flag Forge and Sharon Richards are the featured artists for June at The Gallery in Williams and will be exhibiting their latest collabora- tive pieces in a show called Home on the Plateau. The show celebrates the diver- sity and beauty of the Colorado Plateau, a place they have both called home for the last 30 years.
Ms. Borthwick, who makes pieces out of forged ironwork; and Ms. Richards, who makes quilted fiber art; started col- laborating with their art mediums about five years ago. They thought it would be interesting to see what would come of combining these two unlikely mediums.
Their current exhibit showcases the results, including new work in their tra- ditional style of wall hangings and furni- ture, and new three dimensional sculp- tural pieces.
See their innovative creations through the month of June at The Gallery in Wil- liams, 145 Historic Route 66 & meet the artists during Second Saturday ArtWalk on June 14. The GalleryinWilliams.com
