Though the artist works 40-hour weeks, she still finds 20-30 hours a week to focus on her art. “I›m never at a loss for treasures to work on,” she says. “I like to bicycle. I always take something to bring back from my finds on the side of road. Also, I have this wonderful network of friends who are always bringing me treasures.”

A SUMMER OF CIRCUS
This May the Flagstaff Foundry celebrated one year of monthly shows. Last month’s show included live music, stand up comedy, aerial performance, a reading of The Flagstone Four and a performance by the Circus Arts Studio’s Improv Team Tiny Punches. At the Coconino Center for the Arts July 11-29 Flagstaff Aerial Arts, Flagstaff Arts Council and Bacchus Arts Collective will once again be holding Funtown Circus Camp for youth ages 7-17. At circus camp students learn theatric skills, safety, stilt walking, hula hoop, aerial, clowning, juggling, set and costume design, and all other skills circus folk need to
know. Registration for Funtown Circus Camp is now open. Students can drop in for a day, or sign up for 1-3 weeks. Every Friday at 12PM during the camps there will be a performance at Coconino Center for the Arts.

Summer Youth Aerial Intensive Camp June 22-24. This camp is designed for beginning and intermediate students to become acquainted with, and improve their aerial skills, while building positive relationships with peers and developing a positive and empowering sense of self. There are only 12 spaces available, and registration is required by
June 1.
On Friday June 3 from 6:30-8PM, Flagstaff Arts Council brings Cirque Roots to perform at Heritage Square.
“Spectrum — A Theatrical Stilt Dance and Acrobatics Spectacle” is described by the group as “a heart-opening stilt performance piece that aims to build community and empower, with a universal message of positivity and hope.”
On June 4 Cirque Roots will be offering stilt walking workshops at The Circus Arts Studio, 1311 E. Butler Ave. Beginning Stilt Walking will be held 12-1PM and an Intermediate/Advanced class from 1:15-3PM. Flagstaffaerial.org
ART IN THE NORTHLAND
For the 13th year in a row Brandy’s Restaurant, 1500 E. Cedar, will be featuring the transparent watercolors of Catherine Sickafoose. For this show Ms. Sickafoose’s paintings will be in vintage frames made from reclaimed wood. She will also have a selection of miniature paintings on display. BrandysRestaurant.com
