ROW 1: At First Friday ArtWalk June 6th in downtown Flagstaff, Kendall & Carrie Ann Vesica Piscis of ShimmerSounds were bask- ing in the glow outside Vino Loco; Margaret Dewar of the Mural Mice raised funds in the alley of Criollo for the largest mural yet to be painted in Northern Arizona; Sky Black posed in front of Sound of Flight, a conceptual for the mural of which he is collaborating with the Mural Mice & the Orpheum Theater.
ROW 2: At the Artists’ Coalition of Flagstaff Gallery opening on ArtWalk, board members & photographers Mike Frankel & Phil Gold- blatt, featured gallery photographer Rob Dutton, an ACF member artist whose name escapes the captioner, and board member & jeweler Araceli Gonzales; an unidentified registrar, Blaise Caudill & Leigh Ann manned the “Register to Vote” booth on Heritage Square; Flutes!! held sidewalk revelers cap- tive outside Arizona Handmade Gallery.
Row 3: At the Fire On the Mountain Studio Season Opener on ArtWalk, George Aver- beck & apprentice demonstrate the ancient art of glass blowing to an audience of young & old; featured watercolorist Erica Fareio & family posed in front of the artist’s newest series at West of the Moon Gallery; former edi- tor & present news radio voice for KNAU/NPR Ryan Heinsius whisked by the crowd to get a bite of good Latin eats with wife and new baby boy.
ROW 4: At the 5th Annual Flagstaff Hul- labaloo in Wheeler Park June 7th & 8th, the greens were packed for two days, celebrating all things Flagstaff, including fantastic vend- ing from local businesses, giant puppets, a bike parade, and the music of Zion-I, Natural Vibrations, B-Side Players, Circus Bacchus, Summit Dub Squad, Santa Pachita, and Viola & the Brakemen.
ROW 5: At the “Memento Mori” Opening Gala at Coconino Center for the Arts June 12th, guest artist Tina Mion struck a pose with Flagstaff Arts Council marketing coor- dinator, Robyn Shipton; while FAC’s Deputy Director of Visual Arts & Marketing Elizabeth Hellstern dressed the part to a special edition print of Stop Action Reaction, Ms. Mion’s signa- ture piece in the Smithsonian National Gallery; and a motley crew of attendees — (bottom row, from left): Warren Sanford, Krista Pederson, Kristen Coor, Fred Harvey (aka Lawrence Kenna), Allan Affeldt, Karen Whitten, an unidentified ship captain & his lady; (top row, from left): two unidentified mustachioed individuals, Scott Reese, Marilya Veteto Reese, Andrew Moore, Ann-Mary Lutzick, Robyn Shipton, Stephen Saunders, Eliza- beth, Hellstern, Tom Alexander, Tina Mion, John Tannous, Damon Taylor, and three other unidentified (by the editor) individuals.
ROW 6: At the 5th Annual FireFly Gather- ing near Flagstaff June 13th – 16th, beautiful & spectacular things came out at night on stage; sustainable impermanent structures were found dotted along a visionary land- scape where nature met adventurous art; and canvas & hula met in synchronized movement meditation.
ROW 7: At the 1st Annual Tilt Festival in Riverside Park in Cottonwood June 21st, Charles McDougal & M. Hudgens of Moun- tain Meadow Farms sipped a splendid out- lay of local wine while enjoying the croons of Bruce Cockburn; Mitch & Mrs. Levy of Burning Tree Cellars served up their latest; winemaker John Scarbrough & the young Mr. Fuller unleash a few of Fire Mountain’s finest; and Joseph & Kris Pothier of Chateau Tumbleweed poured a hefty Admiral, a local favorite.
