A LETTER FROM THE PUBLISHER
And now onto something completely dif- ferent. This month, as some may be aware, marks our 11th Anniversary of the Noise. Heady times indeed, from a little paper so riddled with grit and typographical errors when it first rolled off the presses in Octo- ber 2001.
And while the grit and typos still may persist from time to time, in the most irri- tating of fashions — namely when picking up the first printed copy hot off the presses and spotting “hjksjd” immediately), we’ve seen the thing grow beyond expectations.
Our small band of dedicated and crafty writers have proven that community-driv- en, community-run media can exist ... and thrive, even among what may seem like insurmountable odds. Even while our col- lection conscious is bombarded by multi-
national corporate interests, it is the local heart that keeps the beat.
And I have to take my hate off to our local business sponsors, who have time and
again continued to believe in this project, even with the occasional “hjskd” and unex-
pected cases of déjà vu.
Here’s to good reading!
