Flagstaff Modern and Contemporary, 215 S. San Francisco, presents “Beyond The Peaks,” a group exhibition of 12 contemporary artists, none of which are based in Flagstaff. “Beyond the Peaks” is curated by the FMAC collective and New Age Drinks, and will feature the painting, collage, sculpture and prints of artists who work in locales from Long Beach, CA to New York, NY. Each of the two openings for “Beyond The Peaks,” on September 25 and October 2, will feature improvised performances by The Interference Series, an experimental music collective led by composer Owen Davis, a recent Flagstaff transplant from Chicago. For the first time ever, the annual Big Pine Comedy Fest is coming to Flagstaff. From October 7 to 10, the laughter will spread all across downtown Flagstaff. Up to 100 local, national and international comics and improv teams will perform at venues all across downtown Flagstaff, including The Weatherford, The Green Room, Whyld Ass Coffee, Fire Creek and The State Bar.
