Radio Free
Flagstaff Submits
its FCC Application by John Abrahamsen
Radio Free Flagstaff thanks everyone who chipped in at our day-long fundraiser, the Orionid Meteor Shower Soiree & Art Bazaar at the Orpheum back in October. It was a stone cold blast, and we raised enough money to pay all the fees to finish our low-power FM application and submit it to the Federal Communications Commission ahead of deadline. We can all breathe a collective sigh of relief—the first phase is over.
Our next fundraiser is slated for March—unless the government shuts down again, we should know by then if our application has been approved. In the meanwhile, we’ll keep improving our website and making it more user-friendly, with more local music and more local programming. We don’t need an FCC license to be an online radio station — all we need is to be able to pay our bills.
So please make a tax deductible donation to Radio Free Flagstaff by going to radiofreeflag.org and clicking on the Support Radio Free Flagstaff link at the top of the page. Do it before January so you can claim a deduction on your next tax return — the bigger the donation, the bigger the deduction! It’s a great way to support local, non- profit, community-access, grassroots Flagstaff radio.
We’ve come this far — three years on and still going strong. But there’s still a lot more to do — wanna help? Drop us a line at radiofreeflagstaff@ gmail.com, we’d love to hear from you.
