rising on my arms. I forgot about taking pic- tures and sat mesmerized until intermission, and then avidly awaited Act Two.
During intermission, I did have time to ask Kirstin nelson a few questions. She told me about her favorite scene in this play. “I really enjoy a scene towards the end of the second act. Jo struggles to believe in herself, as a means to affect change and to adequately defend other people. There’s a moment where after all the time she’s spent believing in Kaffee, that he believes in her and her abil- ity. The moment between the two of them, as we’ve continued to play the scene, has continued to grow on me. How important it is, and how much it conveys about the overarching message of the play; it isn’t just about making the right decisions, but about interpersonal relationships between people.”
The second time around was even better, the cast and the audiences’ energy exchange brought even more levels of depth to the play. I’d never seen the movie before, so I walked into the theatre with a fresh mind, I didn’t know how the story would unfold. The enjoyment of being in an audience re- acting to revelations that unfolded onstage was enchanting, we laughed together, made exclamations of disbelief and awe. The cast, deeply involved in their characters made this play memorable, their dedication through- out the time spent rehearsing is apparent.
I don’t want to give away what unfolds during this play, but I strenuously suggest you go see A Few Good Men.
Bryan Wood, who plays laid-back char- acter Capt. Isaac Whitaker, tells me how he hopes the audience will respond to the play.
“I hope they’ll do a little bit of research, to see what was really going on in Guantanamo Bay, and what continues to go on there still today, maybe they’ll crack open a history book and find out what Guantanamo Bay was really about. I think a lot of people would be very surprised.”
A Few Good Men plays at the Doris Harper- White Community Playhouse, 11 W. Cherry, through April 7. Veterans receive free ad- mission during the run of this play, please reserve your seat ahead of time.

This April, a call to artists goes out to all of Arizona and beyond. imagiventure Foun- dation, a non-profit from Sedona, presents an exhibition titled, “Guns/children.”
“The Guns and Children exhibition began when a couple of artists and myself realized we were all developing art based on the idea of how these things compare,” executive director Jennifer epperson tells me. “We decided an exhibition that also includes per- formance art would be a really good way to get a community conversation started, a way to help us, as westerners, become part of this national conversation. So we are very inter- ested in hearing from artists and what they have to say, we really want to have a variety of ideas and a variety of work that would rep-
