videos with local artists and actors. Their most well received video to date features an unemployed luchador battling to the deal with the ghost of Roy Orbison.
This video was screened by Exploding Cinema out of the United Kingdom as part of their world wide guerilla film festival.
The tongue-in-cheek, grind house feeling is detectable throughout the Warpigs catalogue. They most recently released an E.P. exclusive to Phoenix Comicon featuring ukulele lead noise punk tracks about cult movies and geek fandom.
They moderate the tumblr page ‘Andy Warpigs is a Band You Don’t Understand’ and repost links to movies and inside jokes on their band twitter page. “We toyed with becoming a postmodern reggae band called ‘Existential Dreads,” one post reads. It’s hard to tell where truth ends and fiction begins with this band, but the bold deconstruction of pretense is admirable.
The band has a strong sense of humor, but has a keen sense about playing out. They are headlining the Quarry as part of the annual Side Pony Music Festival in Bisbee November Eleventh. “The entire city is filled with bands. It’s amazing, like Arizona’s Woodstock.” Warpigs speaks highly of the festival organized by Animique Quinn from the band Treasure Fruit. “She is like the arts ambassador to the city. That level of organization and dedication is nothing short of miraculous.”
Andy Warpigs descends to the desert town with fellow artists from the TVLife Entertainment Label. They are bringing the alt hip hop talents of cohorts 20 ft Neon Jesus, Dadadoh, and Wolfzie, as well as the sultry folk blues of Trash Mullet. “It’s gonna be a blast. I always trip out and see ghosts in all of the windows of those hotels.”
