MOVIN’ ON UP
The paintings of Erica Vhay, and the home of 2b Design has moved to a new location and will open its doors to the public this De- cember.
Ms. Vhay tells me a bit about the decision to move into the new space. “We basically outgrew the old space,” she says. “I produce a lot of paintings and needed larger walls for the large scale work I am going to be doing for my summer show. Our web design busi- ness — 2b design is growing by leaps and bounds. Our lead software engineer Dar- ryl Brown is an expert at both software and web design — so he has been much sought after for responsive web designs as well as web apps. This is a great problem to have but meant we needed more space for em- ployees, computers, etcetera. We saw the
‘for rent’ sign and decided it would be a great move. It came at the perfect time. We really like being downtown but wanted a bit more foot traffic and visibility. Being on Heritage Square is an added bonus. It has been lots of fun so far.”
“We love this new space!” Ms. Vhay contin- ues. “The web design crew is in the base- ment with their ping pong table and hang out area. Upstairs we are leaving as a large open gallery and also renting it out to events and parties. The space has a history of this and it is such a great space and location for parties.”
A Grand Opening for the new Erica Vhay Gallery will be on December 5 from 6PM to 8PM. Ms. Vhay’s new show “25 Days,” features new work by the artist. The gallery will also be open for the First Friday ArtWalk on De-
cember 6 from 6PM to 9PM and is located on Heritage Square where the Flagstaff Photog- raphy Center used to be. EricaVhay.com WRAPPING UP THE HOLIDAY, FLAGSTAFF STYLE
December at the Artists’ Gallery is a good one, as every member artist is represented in the window, each making special pieces for the holiday season. Says President of the Board and longtime potter, Joni Pevarnik:
“This is a great time to give a gift that is not only hand-made but also a piece of art. The Flagstaff community has been so supportive of the Gallery, this is our 21st holiday season and we are already getting people coming in for a sneak-peek for their holiday shopping.
“Members work in the gallery and custom- ers have the opportunity to meet with the artists one-on-one. This gives the customer the benefit of knowing the maker of the piece, which makes it all the more interest- ing.”
To top it all off, the gallery is displaying a holiday tree with specially created orna- ments. The Artists’ Gallery will be partici- pating in the First Friday downtown holiday event along with other downtown shops and galleries.
Resounds Ms. Pevarnik: “This is a nice time of year to come downtown and see what is going on!” FlagstaffArtistsGallery.com
